I get the gold-bug stuff. I subscribed to the Mises Institute and Lew Rockwell for a decade before Ron Paul ran for President.

I have a constitution collage made out of Ron Paul pictures in storage somewhere. I owned a lot of gold.

Times change. There is something that beats gold at everything.

I don't own a lot of gold, but I have some, just like I have some food, some guns, some ammo, a garden, water collection system, tools, a means of generating my own power, extra propane tanks, a wood stove, and at least two fall back positions. Nothing wrong with a little diversification.

That's fine. Then the bitcoin will finally be as useless as gold.

Guns and friends are then the most important things to have.

If you're planning on a life without power, gold should be about 87th on the list of priorities.
Depending on how long life without power lasts I doubt friendship will rate very high. It will become survival of the fittest -- law of the jungle--eat or be eaten.

Sorry, but I don’t care anymore.
And now all those people have moved on to something shinier, more secure, more portable, cooler, and better.
I’ll take a mat finish AK or AR over shiny gold any day. You’re gonna need things to barter with too. Practical things, tools, ammo, clothes, food, water, etc. That will be the new currency.

You just like to argue - don't you? I don't see your friends sticking with you for long :-)
I also see a whole lot of survivalist who have no idea how little they'd be able to do, even with all their bugout gear. Stuff is a lot harder than they expect. And there is more labor and difficulty than any one man, or any five men, can do. That's why clans and tribes existed.

If you are really serious about being an American and restoring constitutional republican government then Bitcoin just isn’t going to fly.

Article 1 - The Legislative Branch
Section 10 - Powers Prohibited of States

No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation; grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal; coin Money; emit Bills of Credit;

make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts;

pass any Bill of Attainder, ex post facto Law, or Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts, or grant any Title of Nobility.

No state has done any of that.

So what's the problem?

Gee, you must be ignoring the part where only gold and silver can be accepted as payment of debt. Not the current fiat money. Not Bitcoin. Game over, unless restoring a the republic is not what you want???
You can accept anything you want as payment of debt. That's what freedom looks like.

The constitution limits what payments they can FORCE you to accept. They can force you to accept certain forms. But you're allowed to accept anything.

If you want to accept chickens as a form of payment, you can.

Bitcoin is dominating without any state or federal endorsement or force. It's dominating simply because it's great and people like it. No constitutional issues. Nobody is forcing bitcoin on anyone.

Constitutionally, bitcoin is no different than everyone all of a sudden accepting chickens as payment. A free market has chosen that it likes to accept something. There is no conceivable objection.
