File! File! File!
My scheduled start time was 7:15 am I punched into diad at 0700 set everything up and received a text at 0713 I received a text that said don't leave building plane has been delayed just take your 10 minute break and then go on lunch. A little after the supervisor showed up and I told him my hour lunch is almost up should I punched back on and he said no you can stay on Lunch longer than an hour???
"Try that Monday on route" lol
Anyhow planes been delayed 3 time and I've been on lunch for 5 hours and can't get ahold of either steward nor can I find this issue for Saturday drivers addressed in the contract! Any help is appreciated?

You are not required to take your lunch because they are waiting on a plane. I wouldn't of punched out and would have been paid to sit there. Then taken lunch at a place of my choosing later.

Most Saturday drivers want to get in and get out as quickly as possible; that being said, I would have taken the 10 minute and the meal break as requested but would have then gone back on the clock once those two were over. They could then either pay me to sit there or I could start washing package cars-----their choice-----but there would be no way that I would sit there for 5 hours (and running) unpaid.

Art. 40 sec 1 subsection (h) (4) "No exception air driver shall be required by the employer to wait at a center for packages off the clock."
That was the argument. I was told I didn't have to wait at the center. I could go run around just stay reasonably close. Weak contract language. That said though once I finally got ahold of the Steward and threatened a grievance they agreed with my interpretation and I was paid for 12 hours and only worked 4. Lol
Sucks on a Saturday but still was happy to fight for our Saturday crews rights!

I did concede some and agreed to take my hour lunch because I did make a trip to McDonald's but I was so mad they was trying to pull this crap on our crew. Couldn't get a hold of a steward to prove my interpretation and the audacity of the supervisor to say "No we can keep you on lunch as long as needed" beings most Saturday drivers our young and or new hires how many people have been bamboozled in this same scenario!

Moral of the story:

Management can/will tell you anything they think you are stupid enough to believe.

Ye
In 5 hours you could have read the national regional and local
UPS Agreements, 2013 – 2018
Yeah I quoted the only part of the contract I could find and it stated something like we can't be forced to stay at the center. Of course management had a bs interpretation but after I finally got ahold of my Stewart and threatened a grievance the story changed and I have been paid. Union Strong.... well sorta... lol

The few times that I ran Saturday air and the plane was late I was never asked to change my start time or to go on lunch while we waited. We simply sat in the package car at the airport and waited for the plane to touch down.
There have been many times when air was going to be late that the sup would send us a text message changing our start time. Usually less then an hour before the scheduled start time and sometimes on the commute in which for me is less then 15 minutes. Most times I comply so as to not make waves. I remember one time we all went out to breakfast because air was late.

I encourage you to inform your brothers running air that thier scheduled start time is the time they begin getting paid regardless unless notified 24 hours in advance and they can't be forced to take lunch either. Your decision to not make waves is yours and I respect your freedom but your fellow brothers may just be getting fooled and not know thier rights.

Almost all of us are at top rate and know what a great deal we have as Saturday Air drivers. $27.+/hr to ride around on Saturday morning dropping a few boxes off. Good relationship with the PT sup and don't want to see him get burned.

If they ever tell you to sit off clock for 6 hours you may feel differently

If your start time is 715 and you punched in at 700. What are you setting up? If start time is 715 you punch in at 715. Then get everything ready.
