After my first 30 days (a long time ago ) my on car put me on a route in the blind . First day I brought back 53 stops . When I got back to the bldg that night he asked me what happened ? I told him that I was as lost as could be, he said tomorrow will be a better day . He was right , I stayed on that run for over 20 years. I made lots of friends and got a lot of gifts during peak seasons . I wonder if anybody on here has stayed on one run that long other than myself ?

I was basically on the same route for 25 years. It consisted of a little town and a few rural routes. I knew everyone by name, where they worked, their kids name and their dogs names. I could do that route blindfolded and there were days I was hungover that I did.

I was on the same route for almost 20. I knew everyone and took care of them as much as possible and they took care of me. Most other drivers hated my route but I could do it in my sleep.

Over the years very few wanted to run my area when I went on vac or took a day or 2 off . several guys that ran my run over the years went into management . One guy really stands out,to let him tell it he hated UPS with a passion. Everything about the company was wrong in his eyesight. Guess what ? One Monday morning who has a tie ? HIM . He lasted about 2 years . In my neck of the woods we call that " talking out the side of your neck" .

I still have nightmares about that run . It was very hectic but you knew everyone which made it easy to have neighbors take their packages if they were not home. Of course the ones with release numbers on them were the easy ones. However I do remember trying to leave a "sig rq" package at one guys neighbor and the neighbor said "no" I don't want anything to do with that SOB. I said ok thanks anyhow and left in a hurry .
