Thinking of retiring here in the next month or as soon as possible. Can someone tell me how fast or slow the process is ? Can I just stop working as soon as I put in my paperwork while I'm waiting on my first check ?

Looks like they updated the site and you have to reregister. Had to verify my identity through Lexisnexis.

Went quick and smooth for me. Never had any issues I had to deal with. Company and union even worked out an option for me to retire 3 weeks earlier than I had planned.

Took 5 weeks vacation from Christmas Eve through the end of January and sat my ass on the beach in Kauai practicing for retirement. Had a week vacation left for February and was planning on working the other 3 weeks before retiring March 1st. Don't think they wanted me back so they told me to break up my final week into single days spread throughout the month to cover pension & health insurance. Being in porters I would not have been too motivated to do much anyways.
