I heard of a some guys who installed one of these in their boat instead of a marine radio. It wasn't until the 4th day adrift at sea that a passing trucker heard their mayday. Luckily the seas were calm that week.

If you are far enough to be in international waters you are out of range to shore.

I've got a friend who paid $10,000 EACH for 2 of those for him and his wife. They already had 2 that cost $5,000 each. That's $30,000 they have tied up in bicycles. Now that is STUPID.

I remember first moving into a house with some friends and we were searching for big used TVs to buy, not as old as the one in this picture but still the giant thick ones that had wheels on the bottom. Excepting to still have to pay a decent amount for it but at least split it

But people were begging to get rid of them, giving them away for free as long as you took it out lol.
