This says that gas prices will be going higher not because of speculators, but refinery closings.

Just to make it fair, when you quote gas prices in your area.....quote from the pump. Not everybody belongs to clubs and markets where you get cents off your gas.
The true prices of your area is what's printed on the pumps.
$2.49 at my Valero today.

We are down to $1.82 at the pump ($1.77 at Costco). One of the stations in town raised their prices to $1.99 on Monday (just a last gasp attempt to gouge the public) but they are back down to $1.82 today. I quit buying gas at that station years ago because they are the ones who are always the first to raise their prices (every town has one).
I see gasbuddy.com has St. Louis as the lowest average right now at $1.70.

I was in Texas on sleeper and saw 1.63 a gallon for regular.

I cant wait to hear moreluck and islanfox, and baba, and all the others recanting how gas was under 2 bucks under president Obama come 2016 if a republican is elected and the price of oil shoots back up again.

That will make my day.

Obama did all he could to restrict drilling on public land. The increase is from private land. Say thank you fracking. You're welcome.

 Don't hold your breath waiting. The price of oil will shoot back up again no matter whos elected---------probably way before the election. Enjoy it while it lasts.

At some point in the not-too-distant future, the Israelis are going to take matters into their own hands in regards to Iran's nuclear program, and the entire Persian Gulf will become a war zone overnight. When that happens, we could see gas go from $2 to $10 a gallon in a heartbeat. Enjoy it while it lasts, but if I were in the market for a new vehicle today I wouldn't count on gas prices staying this low for long and I would choose my vehicle accordingly.

Isn't that area already a war zone ?
Heck the Saudis are building a defensive fence to keep ISIS away .
If Israel attacks Iran, Iran will start sinking tankers in the Persian Gulf with the hundreds of Silkworm anti-ship missiles that they have lining the coastline. The price of oil worldwide will skyrocket as a result.

Someone will eventually fart in the Mideast and over night we will be back up (if not over) what we were before. Once again--enjoy it while it lasts.
I don't think so. Iran could dry up tomorrow and push prices up to maybe $80/barrel. But think of Russia and Venezuela. They have no choice but to oversupply at that point. Too much of their income is from oil.

I'm not saying that just because the Mideast might have hic cup that our supply would dry up. What I'm saying is that Big Oil in American is just waiting for ANY excuse to jack the price up. They want their pound of flesh from John Q. Public.
