Government Motors

Your kidding right ?
Don't you ever read how many natural gas powerplants are in the works ?
Natural Gas that is in abundance in the US and Canada ?

Washington State alone is building a few (with the help of a Canadian company, too).
Plus we'll see much more green energy being harvested in the future, too.

When was the last time you heard and felt a shortage of electricity ?
Unlike in 1973 when the oil valves were turned off in the middle-east !

Mind you, I don't care - as long as the US is stuck on oil consumption - Canada stays rich ! :)
Do you have any idea how many oil fired electric plants are in the US? I was talking about OIL not natural gas.

Something I didn't know.
Yeah, stick with gasoline engines in the US.
It makes no sense at all for you, (Americans), having electric cars then.

I was wrong.

Sorry your just incapable to understand.

No, I don't !
Because when you were a kid, there was only 1 TV in the household, basically no other elctrical appliances as we have today (that's why older homes only have 1 or 2 electrical sockets in the kitchen - not enough in todays world) !

There were no microwaves, blenders, electri can openers, fancy oven toasters, etc).

There wasn't a TV in every room, or a computer, fax machine and printers. Wifi games, etc.

But, yet the country survived not being blacked-out and without electricity.
And now Americans believe the e-car will do that to them.
Woohhhh, scary thought !

No, it's the idiot walking around CA. trying to get signatures to place on the ballot a motion to close our 2 nuclear plants....rolling blackouts is all that would bring.

Tuesday, December 6, 2011 @ 9:11 pm | [h=2]More Bad News For The Official Car of The Obama Admin: Chevy Volt Battery Issues Growing, Safety Findings Suppressed For Six Months…[/h]
obama-chevy-volt.jpg

One car, one man — two lemons.
(AutoGuide) — Following on from the announcement that GM is looking at redesigning the Chevrolet Volt’s lithium-ion battery system in the wake of several highly publicized fires resulting from test crashes, comes further news that both the automaker and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration delayed disclosure of their original findings by months.

Apparently, way back in June, General Motors heard about a Volt fire that happened three weeks after said vehicle was crash tested, yet it wasn’t until November that the company, or NHTSA disclosed there was a potential problem, urging both dealers and customers to drain the battery pack immediately following an accident.

As a result the public relations nightmare surrounding Chevy’s halo vehicle appears to be deepening, though a good deal of the blame in this case also rests with NHTSA.

Joan Claybrook, a former adminstrator at NHTSA believes part of the reason for the delay was the “fragility of Volt sales.” Yet she also believes that “NHTSA could have put out a consumer alert, not to tell them [customers] for six months makes no sense to me.”

GM designed a complex cooling system for the Volt’s lithium ion battery pack to help regulate its temperature (lithium-ion units are known for overheating), yet until July it hadn’t finalized a standard proceedure to power down the battery system, the Volt had already been on sale in the US for six months at that juncture.

Just another fine example of the US Gov't at work.
Fund out about a small electrical fire malfunction in a shining example of the messiah's dream machine and after all the normal channels of switching the blame around are covered then only will the people who's lives and homes are at risk will they be made aware of this major flaw.
What this administration should be doing is make the Volt the official gov't vehicle and require every employee to drive one ( while on official gov't work ).

Secret video of testing for the 2012' COPO Camaro. COPO stands for Central Office Production Order and is a concept car that is a factory built drag car for NHRA Stock Eliminator.

For any straight liners interested, she ran a 9.90 at 138 off the trailer and they dialed it down to a string of 9.70's until they ran a 9.69 at 140. Reminds me of the days of the old Yenko and Baldwin Motion Camaro. Ah the good ole' dayz!

The Camero is built by the Canadian Government though (built in Canada with some Canadian Tax payers money).

Not to compare with an "obama-car" !

I did not know that. I searched it and found:
The new Camaro will be produced at the Oshawa Car Assembly manufacturing plant in Canada. 2,750 jobs would have been lost at the Oshawa manufacturing plant which had been originally scheduled to be closed in 2008; some of these jobs were saved due to the new Camaro's production. This new product program and conversion of the Oshawa plant to a state of the art flexible manufacturing facility represented a US$740,000,000 investment.

Do you know the Canadian and Ontario governments bailed them out, too ?
For every dollar the US government bailed GM out we paid our fair share of 10% (because we have 10% of the popluation than the US). Equals the same amount per citizen.

GM could've just gone through the bankruptcy process and emerged a stronger company, leaner & meaner and still had their pride. They didn't need rescuing, they needed restructure.

As a very powerful woman once said: " Socialism is great , until you run out of other people's money."

So, is capitalisum, it's great until the rich have all the money !

Did anyone ever consider that state socialism and modern capitalism are the same thing since in both cases the vast majority of the people are left with little to nothing and a privileged elite closely connected to the state end up controlling and/or owning everything?

I'm just sayin'!

"Open Your Mind!"

I agree wkmac, that's why you need a balnce between the both of those 2.
And I would say it's starts with healthcare for everyone and not just for the previliged.
There is enough money to go around in a country to provide that neccesity.

And those countries that come within a close balance between those 2 systems are the best places in the world to live, and amazingly those countries don't have any national debt or just very little.

NEW YORK (AP) — General Motors will buy Chevrolet Volts back from any owner who is afraid the electric cars will catch fire, the company’s CEO said Thursday. In an exclusive interview with The Associated Press, CEO Dan Akerson insisted that the cars are safe, but said the company will purchase the Volts because it wants to keep customers happy. Three fires have broken out in Volts after side-impact crash tests done by the federal government. Akerson said that if necessary, GM will recall the more than 6,000 Volts now on the road in the U.S. and repair them once the company and federal safety regulators figure out what caused the fires…
