Personally, I think they would have build a new bridge to Canada a lot quicker, since GM Canada was bailed-out..
Just be manufacturing most or all of North American GM models here instead.

Would have been just GM USA going under.
GM Europe, China, Canada would still be operating and at a much larger scale to make up for the shortfall.

I would have been perfectly ok letting the rest of the world hold the bag regarding GM while we wiped our hands clean of them. In the long run we would have been much better off letting GM die here.

And about 1/3 of American cars are built in Canada - don't drive them if you don't like them ! - Actually, don't drive at all with Canadian oil !

Plan B is already getting into place : Free Trade with Europe, Asia, and even China.

and btw: Only the customized chassis of the bus was built here, that apparently no US compnay could have made on that short notice, or had no abililty to do so.

I haven't seen a hospital room without a Siemens or Bayer logo, yet.

How do you go from talking about cars and buses to medical devices? Are you drinking again? I'm sure the Obama campaign could have found an American Bus manufacturer to build thier bus, but they decided to have it built outside the country taking the work away from Americans who desperately need it. Just goes to show how out of touch Obama is with the American electorate.

2 chevys in my garage..............pre-Obama's government motors.
About the jobs.......there are 780,000 less females employed since Obama took office. That's really something TO complain about.
The mini I have was, in it's year '05, the shortest car out there and I needed a short car to occupy my garage to satisfy the neighbor beeatch.......................the smart car wasn't for sale here yet. We weren't choosing a car for a brand and didn't care what brand it was....we just needed the shortest car out there.

Newest vehicle I own is a 2000 model year. I say again 0 Canadian built vehicles unlike the Obama campaign who says the private sector is doing fine at 8.2% unemployment. Out of touch...

If you ever find a Ford T Model outside the USA, as in Austrailia, Europe or even Africa. - It's made in Canada !
That's history for you : To avoid paying import taxes to the British Empire, Ford and the other big 2 built cars in Canada for export and for Canadians, too.

And to be honest, I can't care less if you own 3 Fords without 1 single foreign import part ! Good for you !

Hey, do you actually know how much land and farms Safeway leases in Alberta ?
They send truckloads of fresh, frozen, and even canned veggies back to California !
Safeway has a huge produce exchange between California and Alberta.
You send us tons of fresh fruit and veggies, and that same truck load goes right back with Alberta fresh produce.
It's amazing, actually. (but not bananas) !

But, there is a Banana-belt in Canada.
Very near where DS lives and also in the Vancouver area, too.
It's called Banana Belt, because Bananas actually grow there !

My father back in the 70's bought what Ford was calling a true American car , a pinto wagon; v-6.
Only the body was Canadian, the motor was German , the transmission was English and the tires were from Japan .
I had Comanche P/U ( 1986 ) truck that was mostly French and some American/Canadian parts .
My last three vehicles are Toyota , one actually built in Japan , I've had the least breakdowns ever.
