Government freezes GM CEO's pay.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- The Treasury Department announced Friday that it has frozen the pay of top executives at
the three firms still on the hook for "exceptional assistance" from TARP.

The pay freeze will be particularly hard to take for management at GM, which earlier this year
reported very strong profits.

GM reported a record annual profit attributed to common shareholders of $7.6 billion in February.
Meanwhile, the company's stock has risen 22% since the start of 2012.

[h=1]Is the Chevy Volt’s payback period really 26 years?[/h]http://www.midwestenergynews.com/2012/04/05/is-the-chevy-volts-payback-period-really-26-years/

No.
It concerns more about the cost of the vehicle.
A Prius costs half of a Volt and it's pay back time is 2.5 years.

AOL Auto Blog:
Last we heard, Fisker Automotive was still “committed” to building the recently revealed Atlantic sedan at the former General Motors plant in Delaware. A few years ago, Fisker announced that site would be the company’s new domestic production home (the Fisker Karma extended-range plug-in hybrid is made by Valmet in Finland). Still, Fisker did say that any definitive statement on the Atlantic’s production location would not come until the end of the summer.

So we were interested to read new reports from local media that show more signs that the Atlantic might not ever be built in Delaware.
On Friday, Delaware Online reports, 12 more workers – including engineers and maintenance technicians – were laid off at the plant, leaving “only a small maintenance team” left there. One of those let go was Jeff Garland, who had been working on community affairs and business development efforts in Delaware.

He said the plant is currently “absolutely empty.” This is because Fisker has taken out the old GM equipment but has not yet installed the machines it would need to build the Atlantic. As Garland told Delaware Online, “I think what happened was the budget numbers are so tight right now and they’re working so hard to preserve as much cash as they can that something had to give. We’re not making a car in Wilmington right now, so given that situation it was an obvious place to make a cut.

[h=1]Another Electric Car Causes Fire[/h]
Last week, a fire badly damaged the home of a new Fisker Karma owner, and authorities are saying that the electric car was the source of the blaze.
According to Fort Bend County, Texas, chief fire investigator Robert Baker, the Fisker Karma started the fire that spread to the house.
“Yes, the Karma was the origin of the fire, but what exactly caused that we don't know at this time,” he said. The car was a complete loss.
Oops.
According to the report, the Karma car, which was not plugged in, caught fire less than three minutes after being driven into the garage and that the battery remains intact.

Right before the fire, the owner reported a smell of burning rubber.
“The car was brand-new,” said Baker. “He still had paper tags on it, so it was 60 days old at [most].”
According to Baker, the Karma was a post-recall vehicle bought in April...
Baker estimated damages at roughly $100,000, not including the other two vehicles in the garage, a Mercedes-Benz SUV and an Acura NSX.
“This looks just like golf cart fires we have down here,” said Baker. The suburban Houston area has approximately 50 golf cart fires a year, he said.
Golf carts use...lithium-ion batteries. Like the Fisker Karma. And the Chevy Volt.
“I've worked homicide scenes with less secrecy,” Baker added. “There have to be about 15 engineers down here working on this one.”

When reached for comment, Fisker had this to say:
Last week, Fisker Automotive was made aware of a garage fire involving three vehicles, including a Karma sedan, that were parked at a newly-constructed residence in Sugar Land, Texas. There were no injuries.
There are conflicting reports and uncertainty surrounding this particular incident. The cause of the fire is not yet known and is being investigated.

Chevy Volts: Over 3 1/2 Hours of Charging per Mile Traveled
Great news for anyone foolish enough to be in the market for a Government Motors Volt. While the base price holds steady at a luxury-level $39,995, the 2013 Volt will have an increased all-electric range of 38 miles.
On the downside, it will now take even longer to charge: 10.5 hours using household current.
That comes to over three and a half hours charging time per mile. Government subsidies come to an incredible $250,000 for every Volt sold. But not many sell anyway. Anyone wonder why?

Again, cheering against american industry and the american workers. Look, isnt the bigger picture having something built in this country no matter what it is as long as it employs americans or would you rather have everything in this country made in china?

If you prefer american industry to disappear, then stop complaining about unemployment.

I'd like to know which dummy can't do math (meaning the writer of that article, and also Baba and Moreluck for not even noticing it) !
10.5 hrs charge time for 38 miles.
1 hr charge time = only 1 mile ?????

What about 3.6 miles per 1 hr household (110V) charge ?

You of all people should not be casting the stone based on math ability. Or spelling either when that comes up.

I just left my local Chevy dealership.........I looked at the 5 Volts they had on the lot. What a P.O.S. with a nearly $40,000 sticker!
I saw a 4 door great looking Chevy truck (Silverado, I think) $29,000 on sale for $27,000.

I was there to see what hitch covers they had in their parts dept.

And you are far from having even the thought of bending over to pick up that first stone on the very subject you addressed me for.

By ignorance you must mean you short memory from the last time you've made a post.
