No other high-income country has suffered such a high death toll from gun violence. Every day, more than 110 Americans die at the end of a gun, including suicides and homicides, an average of 40,620 per year. Since 2009, there has been an annual average of 19 mass shootings, when defined as shootings in which at least four people are killed. The US gun homicide rate is as much as 26 times that of other high-income countries; its gun suicide rate is nearly 12 times higher.

If this frightens you, the smart thing to do would be to move to a different "high-income country".
Why would you continue to live in this kill zone?

That's tragic but why do you never discuss all the deaths and injuries prevented to themselves, their families, and others by gun owners?

While we're at it why is it that you care so much about gun deaths yet overdose deaths are about 2.5 times higher? That about 70% of those deaths are from fentanyl that comes up through the Mexican border? Why aren't you wanting to clamp down on the border? Why is it that people like you wanted to control every aspect of our lives during the pandemic but were sending untested illegal immigrants all over the country during the pandemic?

It's absolutely tragic that so many died needlessly from gun violence. But let's not be hypocritical about it.

It's the best gun, why settle for less
If it were banned, they'd just use the next one

And? Most users and the ones who sell to them are American citizens. This is news? It's the Mexican cartels who are buying from the Chinese and bringing it to the border. You're assuming that the U.S. citizens mentioned are white. Most smugglers on the border are Hispanic Americans who have ties across the border. There's constant movement of Hispanics back and forth. But there's a hell of a lot coming in backpacks on illegal crosses too. The Border Patrol catches them all the time. But a lot slip through. And don't tell me I don't know. My cousin is married to a fellow from San Juan, TX near McAllen who spent 10 years in prison for doing just that, smuggling drugs.

“Other countries look at this problem and say, ‘People walking around in the community with handguns is just way too dangerous, so we’re going to broadly limit legal access to that and make exceptions on the margins for people who might have a good reason to have a gun,...here we do just the opposite: We say that, because of the way that the Supreme Court interpreted the Second Amendment, everybody has the right to a gun for personal protection, and then we tried to make exceptions for really dangerous people, but we can’t figure out who they are.”

"...there's a hell of a lot coming in backpacks on illegal crosses too."

Just 0.02 percent of the people arrested by Border Patrol for crossing illegally possessed any fentanyl whatsoever.
Major highway routes for transportation, and the most common method employed involves smuggling illicit drugs through U.S. [ports of entry] in passenger vehicles with concealed compartments or commingled with legitimate goods on tractor‐trailers.

And they should clamp down the border and closely examine every vehicle coming through. When I was in McAllen we had a bunch of people working at my station who were busted smuggling drugs through FedEx. Worked with a young guy in Eagle Pass who had friends and relatives smuggling for the cartels. Said only his wife kept him from joining them.

There's a group of smuggling trackers from the Texas Department of Safety working in the Big Bend region who find all the time stashed bundles of drugs left by smugglers to be picked up later.
