I know a lot about unity. I also know a lot about what the local paid and their issues because of it being illegal. I also know the members lost pay because of what was done. You obviously don't know anything about it. They should be thanking hall for getting them back to work.
I realize it was illegal and a lot of money was paid out. But that act of courage that those members took to defend a coworker that was unity! And with unity like that there's power. My hats off to everyone of those guys that put everything on the line. That's what our union needs. When one member lost his job 250 were willing to have his back that's what being a teamster is about. And I realize hall came and helped but he didn't do it by himself , there were the rally's , the media , customers calling in , the local. How can you say it was all Hall ?

That's the point. How long was the majority suppose to wait for the NMA, that they voted yes for, to be ratified when three locals couldn't negotiate a local supplement?
If positive movement was being made (in L89), the contract would not have been implemented. The opposite was occurring, with political overtones readily apparent. The other locals paid for L89's actions.
The majority should hold out until all locals issues were addressed.

So was it right, that in the end, that Local 89 had imposed on them an offer that was less than the best previously offered by the company?

How's that for "political overtones"?

I think it is great that 250 stood together.
I can say it was Hall because it didn't get done until he did it. If you think UPS put them back because of media and phone calls then I can't help you.

They for sure didn't, they were too out of breath from the 1/2 mile or more walk from their car to the NSA gate.
This was only a portion of their uncompensated journey to their work area.
When they approached on the horizon, I couldn't make out the color of their coats.

8 out of 10 looked like college students who likely weren't worried about healthcare, I know I wasn't when I was young, single and immortal.

Make no mistake, Local 89 was fighting for improved working conditions and to be compensated for their time from the gate to their work areas.
That is another inaccurate statement. Local 89 most definitely talked about healthcare.

Starting wage is a waste of time.

It was going on for weeks without UPS budging. You think they cared about a few politicians and a few customer complaints? Obviously not. The fact that Tim was getting nothing done was alarming. It just seems too convenient for you that H and O got the jobs back? God forbid. So even if they did do anything positive you still can't believe or admit it. Your ignorance is blinding.

He didn't say the local.
He said the people HE talked to had other issues.

Uh, if you'll correct your selective memory, you'll remember that the New York City Council was threatening...on TV...not "phone calls" to pull the shipping contract at it's completion (worth millions) and discontinue the city's practice of forgiving hundreds of thousands of dollars of UPS's yearly accrued parking tickets.

Your posts are so disingenuous. Tell all the facts.

I understand your point.

But, getting caught up in a (emotional) moment.... is that really a bad thing ?

Who do you think, would best represent you ?

A die hard Teamster ?

Or, someone that hides behind a P.O. Box ??

Life.... is replete with choices.

If I was a perfect "human being", I could criticize.

Think about it.

-Bug-

I would prefer to have someone who knows the contract inside and out AND has the ability to talk in a reasonable and coherent manner when negotiating on my behalf.

Makes sense. Lmao. Now who is stealing votes away? So when Milwaukee holds out next contract on a supplemental issue of 4 no votes to 2 yes votes, that will be enough to hold out a year and a half for contractual changes. Yes hyena!! YES!! I so want to take your advice on everything including who to vote for in the next election!!!......NOT!

It was a standoff between UPS and a very aggressive local, so UPS was dug in.
It took their "buddies" from the IBT to finally stop by for the stalemate to end.
What took them so long, more "political overtones"?

Evidently the company "owed the IBT one" after this last CBA?

I respect hall and his abilities.
But, unfortunately, he has a boss that UPS likes.

And the parrots on here that conveniently post selected "facts" will change like the wind if Hoffa or his protégés are voted out. You watch and see.

"On MY behalf".
That says it all.

If I had known that locals were stuck in the C6 plan I would have seen the healthcare issue a little differently. I'm glad they bettered themselves. That plan sucks compared to ours.
