How Often Does Your Center Re-Bid Routes..

What were you before? How did it come to be?

it was every 2 years to bid on route... center wide

only time to go building wide is when someone retires or goes to feeders/art 22.3

we have 4 centers in our building

What chaos? Here's the list of routes. Number 1 on the list chooses his route. That route is off the list. Number 2 is up.
He chooses his route. It's off the list. And so on down the list. Where's the chaos? You simply follow the SENIORITY
list.

Ok. What about the 30 working days to try the route out? How does that work. Driver A doesn't like his route, wants back on his old route. Driver B wants this C wants this D likes his. How does that work?

Ok. I didn't know that's how it worked. Here it's 30 days to try the route out. Then you sign off or go back to your old route. Now it makes sense

Not at all.There's never more then one or two routes up for bid at a time.

All of ours to up at one time. The only way (I think) is if I bid to another center , then I would get my 30 days to try it out

That sounds about right. I wasn't even thinking about route where someone retired. But those bids are out up so a part timer can get a full time spot.

You can't fix stupid. Never let those nudniks negotiate a contract. It would be like Costanza rejecting the better first offer only to negotiate later for less money. This is why I think some drivers should make less, & some of them really seem to want to.

In my local, every route goes up for bid every 2 years in April. The list simply goes out starting with the highest seniority driver. He bids, the list moves to #2 minus one route. Plain and simple the way it's supposed to be.

If there's wording in a contract it overrides past practice

Not where I am. Our contract says we are to take lunch between 3rd and 6th hour. Past practice overrides this and we can take lunch whenever we want to.

I don't know how you can stand it. I run nearly 30 different routes. I bid cover for the purpose of variety (and to avoid the city routes as much as possible).
