I tell my customers when the UPS Inclement Weather Policy is in effect, I will pull up out front; honk the horn; bring the package to the side door for them to retrieve.

Exactly.. I mean if I'm in the cab on break and I feel warm, I'll shut her down but as soon as it feels chilly I'm firing her back up again!

Seriously if the only thing they want to bug me about is idle time, I consider that a good day!

I wouldn't be shutting the car off all day. I'd have over 100 recording while idling.

Anybody ever hear of a package car gelling up? Last time it got really cold, some trucks (not ours) quit, along with a few VW TDI's on my route.

When it gets down below about 15 here, we are told to put diesel treatment in the tank when we fuel to keep them from gelling up.

im sure if they could do this job ( and they cant, that's why they are in management ) their idle time would be twice yours at below zero weather.
