Lewiston, Maine Mass Shooting

I understand the round was a 5.56 round (heard reporting, haven’t checked to verify). So a 5.56 round fired from an AR-15 style can literally blow a huge hole out the back. One victim in Maine was 14. Several of the dead were unidentifiable by sight because of the tissue damage.

It’s the speed of the round fired from these types of weapons that’s so damaging. Not the round itself necessarily.
Why do you hate black people?

The bullet itself has a lot to do with it. The bullet is oval shaped and its center of mass is in the rear. So it'll tend to yaw (rotate) and often fragment upon impact. That's what the huge exit wound you mentioned is mostly about.

Joe Biden says if the murderer would have used a 12 guage shotgun then the shooting would have been much safer.

Potato joe.
Likely wouldn’t have been able to pull off a multiple murder of 18 people. Definitely could kill a half dozen which is still horrific.

These AR-15 rifles are based on a design for hunting human beings and destroying them. We shouldn’t be surprised when psychos choose them as their weapon of choice. And the results are that nobody can really stop him until he’s done. Or killed himself. Most of the time.

How many of these have you seen? I've seen quite a few. You don't have to explain the ballistics to me, I understand quite well. If the shooter used FMJs (as most have stockpiled) the visible wounds are typically surprisingly minimal.

Do you dispute that close range gunshot wounds from a typical AR-15 style weapon are typically worse than something like a 9mm or .45 handgun?

I think it’s the combination of qualities of the AR-15 that makes it so deadly and unfit for use in civil society. I actually think it’s insane they are so easily obtained here.

It's not so simple as this gun vs. that one. I would disagree that the wound from a 55gr. .224 cal fmj bullet is worse than a 240gr. .452 cal XTP at close range, or even a 147gr. .355 cal, especially from a pcc. Too many variables, but it doesn't matter, the rifle itself is what you hate, regardless of any existent facts.

Could it be the projectile velocity?

I think what the majority of Americans hate is how easy they are to buy by anyone. Walk into a sporting goods store or even a Walmart and walk out with one. I myself have a Colt AR 15 bought 35 years ago. Somewhere in the house.

Well, as usual, you’re full of crap, Walmart hasn’t sold AR 15s since 2015. And what is the majority of Americans you’re talking about? Every weapon requires you to fill out paperwork. You can’t just stroll into a store and buy one and walk out without filling it out.

Because a bad lie is just as imbecilic as a good lie to a bleeding heart liberal.

Oh yes you can. The paper work is just rubber stamped. The gun manufactures write the gun laws in this country. Probably all night gun stores in some parts of the country. To be honest maybe you do live in states that have stricter gun laws but where I live you just walk in, put your money down, fill out some paperwork, they pretend to check, and walk out with a gun you can open carry anywhere.

So now you want to ban shotguns too?
I'm not surprised.
Didn’t say that. You love putting words in another man’s mouth, don’t you?
So you're okay with mass shootings as long as they use a shotgun and not the big bad scary looking AR.

Mkay buddy.
