I have listened to probably all of them, hitchens, Dawkins, that sam guy, Krause. I went into Christianity with an open mind and came to the conclusion I did. And also the universes complexity helped shape my view as well. A lot of the stories in the Bible are also a story within the story. They simply weren’t made up by uneducated peasants, yet that’s exactly who wrote them.
The Bible contains a unique authorship. Most holy books are the product of one man. One fellow decides we need a new religion or we need to reform a current religion or claims he has received some kind of vision from God. Then he decides to codify that and write that down. Bang, you've got the Book of Mormon. You have the Koran. You have got a lot of these sacred so-called texts.
But the Bible isn’t like that at all. It’s not the work of one person or even the work of a group of people in one period of time… The Bible is 66 books, written over a period of 1,500 years by more than 40 different human authors Those authors come from a wide variety of backgrounds..
Joshua was written by a general. Daniel written by a prime minister. David was a king. Peter was a fisherman.Nehemiah was the cup bearer to a king .Every kind of educational level, every kind of economic background is represented in the writing of the Bible.
Also Bible writers all lived in different places, all over everywhere. Moses is writing in the wilderness, Paul is writing in prison. Ezekiel is writing as a captive, a slave in Babylon. John is writing on an island in exile off the coast of what is now known as Turkey. All of that is to say, the Bible was written on three different continents, Africa, Asia and Europe. It was written in three different languages, Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek.
The Bible deals with all kinds of controversial subjects, ..like marriage,.. roles in marriage.., raising kids,.. what to do at work.., how to behave in sexuality and everything else.
But, what’s amazing about all of that is the Bible is a harmonious unit. What it says on its first page doesn’t contradict what it is said on its last page. That doesn’t mean there aren’t different convents and different laws. The law of Moses is very different than the law of Christ.
But the harmony is around God.. and who God is.. and how to approach God…
How is that possible? All those different authors over 1,500 years writing on the same theme…. writing in the same direction… Writing in harmony with each other.. That’s incredible.
How can you have a book written over 1,500 years,by 40 different people, all kinds of different backgrounds, all kinds of different places, all kinds of different ideas, and yet,all pointing in the same direction?
Divine revelation. The Holy Spirit of God directly inspired these authors what to write.
