You can believe in an afterlife even if you don't believe in a Jew God. You can also operate on the basis that you hope you are wrong about there not being an afterlife so that you can leave comforting condolences for the grieving family of the recently deceased.

There's also the scientifically acceptable possibility that we live in a simulation, which allows for a possibility of us existing outside of the simulation, and when we die here, we resume our regular lives outside the simulation. The possibilities are endless.
