Police say they were called to the scene of the shooting on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW in Atlanta, and that they are currently investigating the incident, according to a report by Deadline.
“Upon arrival, officers located a female victim with an apparent gunshot wound. She was not alert, conscious or breathing and pronounced deceased on scene by AFR [Atlanta Fire Rescue Department],” police said. “Homicide investigators responded to the scene and are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Right-wing nuts feels threatened and backlashes against trans existence by passing hateful laws and showing up with guns to libraries to try to intimidate people. Maybe it was just because she was black and killed by a black person in a drug deal going wrong on MLK Ave. Or maybe it was a domestic situation. People may or may not have jumped the gun on motive in this murder but you have to understand that the murder rate for our fellow Black transgender Americans is much higher and growing as a share of all murders. It's understandable that people have a knee-jerk reaction although I do agree that we should all pump the brakes on motive.
