Local 804 Drivers Walked Out

I received a text from a driver to check out 804 website!!! Omg bad move on executive board again!!! They are bringing in political advocate people to fight ups! All negotiating is done! You just affected 249 families in the worst way!
Why doesn't 804 get it? Apparently their tactics haven't been successful. I'm not advocating backing down at all, but if something isn't working then you need to change your approach. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over again and expecting a different result.

Every excuse I ever heard made perfect sense to the person who made it.

"I stand in solidarity with UPS drivers who are being threatened with firings for protesting in support of a fellow employee. New York's working men and women deserve respect. I urge UPS to work with the drivers' labor representatives in good faith to address any underlying issues."

Statement from Letitia James, NYC Public Advocate

Sounds like a pretty generic statement to me.

I know that you'll never stop trying to blame the TDU for all the world's problems, and while I am not TDU I offer this: Expecting Hoffa/Hall to do anything but bankroll all of our union dues without using any of it for anything worthwhile - well, they haven't done a damn thing for me. No new FT jobs being created which is explicitly the whole purpose of the contract, all the "major pay increase for all employees" speeches from Hall were vapor, "the healthcare plan is the same as the one UPS used to give you" was another joke, and then there's "just vote yes immediately or we'll punish you."
Now I dunno what kind of school of negotiation teaches to settle immediately but any idiot knows the union has the huge advantage in any negotiations. We have them by the balls, the company damn well can't fire every teamster in the nation if they don't want to give us pay raises and starting payrates that match inflation. Yet our leadership is in cahoots with these people - I wouldn't doubt it if Scott Davis and Hoffa Jr putt together at the same rich executives only golf course.

Anyway I'm unwatching this thread, I am interested in the facts and not the constant fingerpointing. I want the facts before I decide who I point my finger at.

Your interested in fact? Not finger pointing? Reread your post. Your being quite hypocritical.
