Everyone here has sympathy for the 250 drivers but anger towards Liam. I am very surprised to hear that you and possibly other drivers still support Liam. I just don't understand that. He is responsible for putting your jobs at risk.

As far as I know he still works for 804. He just is staying away because he doesn't want to answer you guys because the Union Hall knows they messed up and the don't have the member's best interest at heart.

Annoy a liberal today. Hit them with facts.
The clock is ticking on the entire executive board. Bye TDU own admission ups has made that call to Hoffa/Hall and there feeling the pressure to step down! Do the right thing and leave! Save the 250 teamsters.
Are you saying that UPS made a call to Hoffa? About maybe wanting the 804 e-board to step down? And be replaced with Hoffa's people? UPS loves Hoffa that much?

not what i voted for

I am not a supporter of Sylvester or Reynolds but they did their job and 1 called UPS about the problem 2 told Liam to tell the drivers to go back to work. 3 Reynolds went to Maspeth to tell the drivers to go back to work.

This was a huge mistake by Liam but I don't believe we turn Local 804 over to UPS. We the members may need help saving 250 Teamsters and I would ask the International for help knowing what happened.

Sylvester's problem is trying to spin this on UPS

No spin here. Riight?
Because 250 drivers are just sheep according to you.
So who is to for this wildcat? I don't hear other locals having the issues 804 has. Management gets moved around every year. I would think there would be similarities elsewhere.

Why does every TDU defender never admit they are TDU supporters?

If 804 and UPS had a deal to reduce terminations, and UPS reneged on the deal and kept firing drivers, this will get very interesting very quickly.

It's been 2 weeks of this nightmare in local 804 with no ending in sight.

Our executive board has no shame! No one has been fired or resign, our members in maspeth keep suffering with not knowing if they are going to have a job or not.

So your in 804? Question, Who do you blame? A lot of people on here either blame UPS or the drivers discretion. I say it's been the E board for years. What say you?

The Eboard without a doubt!

That's why I been asking for their resignation!
But T. Sylvester and co. Have no shame! They would tell you that they are Ron Carey teamsters.
So I would like to remind them that when Ron Carey's campaign manager was accused of taking money "THE ONE" Ron Carey "that's who I refer to him" stepped down for the better of the union! At the end Ron Carey was cleared of all wrong doing, but Ron Carey did that because he always put the members first!

What a shocker. Another Hoffa supporter calling for a TDU E-BOARD to resign.
Why don't you wait and see what happens before you start making demands?

A leader with a shred of integrity would have never allowed such a large amount of members to be terminated without falling on the sword himself first! A leader would have called a special meeting and told the membership the problems and what's at stake! A leader would not allow his members to walkout without sending a clear message to members in advance! Now we are stuck following a TDU script! Bring the public to the arena! This should have been handled in the hall! You guys tired! Failed! Move on to another local! Do you realize that if ups continues local 804 is bankrupt! Working members will have substandard healthcare, and higher dues to pay! Tim you can't use someone's else playbook here! It's NYC!!!!!

I will always support and institution that has open and free elections despite who is in power, un like TDU! Who's president is been in power for over 40 years without a single election! Right mr. K. Paff?

I retired 25 years ago from 43rd st. I was there for 11 years and had Tony Magrene for my steward then Business agent. I had a close relationship with John Long and was involved in many wildcats. The last one had the Local fined about $100k. Just one more comment about this, no one lost their jobs and became cops or firemen or any other b...s... like that because of these wildcats.

I have just read about 500 postings and this firing of 250 drivers is very disturbing. What is just as disturbing is the internal anger, much of well deserved. You should not pull a wildcat as a BA without knowing the consequences and you should never put the employment of your people, the security of their families in harms way. They made it easy for UPS to hand the membership a huge blow and create a doubt in every members mind about their representation. To divide is to conquer.

I don't want to preach and I know that a lot has changed in 25 years. In my day in Manhattan the driver was king. We did not have GPS up our butts and all this electronic surveillance. What we did have was the same group of miserable managers. The day after they gave you your book they were looking to fire you. But the difference between us and what I read as you today is that they never divided us. We were a pack. You've got to have discipline. You need to work everyday like your on a ride. No matter what they put in your truck work it like you're on a ride and as long as it takes, that's how long it takes. If you do that and don't give into the pressure they put on people you'll be alright. If they are all over a co-driver then give them a taste of their own medicine. Do I have to give you examples? Break a key in a lock, get stuck in an elevator for two hours, pull a sick load. Don't give them the upper hand by dividing you. I am not preaching insubordination, I am preaching the art of survival when you work for these miserable people who do not care what type or how much stress they put on "their" people. My memories of the representation I received and what my co-workers received from the leadership when I was there makes me proud of my membership in Local 804. Ledger #7284 retired
