Local 804 Drivers Walked Out

251

You know me...
I will always support and institution that has open and free elections despite who is in power, un like TDU! Who's president is been in power for over 40 years without a single election! Right mr. K. Paff?

Ken P is elected every year at the convention, along with the steering committee and co-chairs. I know you hate TDU, but lets keep it factual...

Ken P organization received over $50,000.00 dollars from local 804 why? What did he or his organization teach our membership? Because our executive board still don't know how to strike! Fact

All teamster Presidents were elected at conventions until Ron Carey.

You can't get most Teamsters even to vote on their contract. Getting them to vote on their leadership is totally out of the question. It boils down to the rest get what a few want------------------and yet those who don't vote complain the most.

Well said, Warren. Unfortunately, it's a very different world at UPS today and a very different world at Local 804. There are people posting their political messages on here as they ignore the facts, the obligation of UPS to follow the contract and the obligation of Local 804 officers and representatives to protect the best interests of the members.

Fact #1. The current officers and representatives of Local 804 won the last election. The members have entrusted them to continue the representation that they have provided for the past three years for another three years.

Fact #2. UPS is now, has been in the past and will continue to be in the future a difficult company to deal with or work for. UPS has elevated harassment to an art form and will run rampant over it's employees whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Fact #3. The recent action at Maspeth was the latest example of UPS blatantly violating the contract. The contractual language is clear. "The Union agrees that it will not cause or permit it's members to cause strikes of any kind, stoppages, or any other interference with any of the operations of the Company during the term of the Agreement, so long as the Company abides by the procedure for the settlement of disputes and differences and the decisions of the arbitrators as provided in this Agreement. UPS failed, no, actually refused, to abide by those agreed upon procedures for the settlement of disputes and differences. The Maspeth drivers, their Local 804 Business Agent and the Local 804 Executive Board has made it clear that they will not tolerate the reckless dismissal of contractual language that was negotiated by the parties in good faith.

The actions of the 250 Maspeth drivers should be applauded. The actions of all who stand behind them should be equally applauded, including the actions of their Business Agent, their Executive Board and area political leaders who have spoken out in support of those drivers. Those critics of these events, who sense some sort of political gain in the Maspeth dispute, should be ashamed of themselves. The next local union election is a long way off. There will be plenty of time for you to grovel in the muck of capitalizing on the difficulties of others. Let this one be while the real leaders attempt to resolve the issue.

Most people at 804 will tell you that representation and knowledge went straight down the toilet with our current board! The reformers came out the gate looking like something we could appreciate! Talking a great game of what they are gonna do against the company. What they did do was wake up ups! Give us a weaker grievance procedure than before? Loose over 500 jobs of members bye not having some form of relationship with management. Refusing to refill inside full time jobs! About 100 if not more! And last! Give a pension increase while we are still in critical status! 65-67% funded. That's political! All this will hurt this local for decades!! I personally don't believe any person will receive the increase! Oh yeah! There is a pension meeting with the company soon! Make sure you ask your executive board what the funding levels are and the unfounded liabilities are?

Difficult to take you seriously, 6045. What do you mean by "Give us a weaker grievance procedure than before?". And the pension increase issue? You do know that you're not required to take a pension, right? p.s.: They can't force you to take Social Security either. I'm also not sure exactly what sort of "relationship" you'd like Local 804 to have with management. And most perplexing, "Loose" over 500 jobs". Please tell me that you know that "loose" is when something is untied, like a dog, and "lose" is when something is lost, like a wallet or perhaps 500 imaginary jobs.

Fact #1 all the members support those drivers and their families. You have a loose definition of leaders and I hope I spelled it correctly. You are not a true Teamster because you wouldn't be on here correcting a members spelling. You are probably not a Teamster. Brown won the 2013 spelling bee you are now the winner of the 2014 spelling bee and it is only March.
Congratulations!!!
