Local 804 Drivers Walked Out

Take a look at the news letter all members of local804 received the same week that BA Liam R. pulled a wildcat strike in maspeth.

News letter was approved by: President T. Sylvester and Treasure Secretary J. Reynolds paid for it.

Yes! that is Liam in both pictures posing for the camera right in the center!
Now T. Sylvester solution to this problem is to ask its members to sign a petition in support of the maspeth members, Sylvester's main argument is the company doesn't follow the grievance procedure that's why Liam pulled the building. Well i think is very clear that by the looks of those pictures and the article Liam thinks differently!
The Title of the last article on the page is "UPS BACKS OFF TERMINATIONS"?!

Finally local804news would like to ask;
Why did Liam orchestrated the wildcat strike?
Why President T. Sylvester hasn't addressed its membership after this incident?
Are all members equal in local 804?
What would an arbitrator think after seeing this article?
What would the press and the general public think or say after they supported us by signing a petition that had no fundamentals?

Stay tuned!...

That’s Craptacular
Your not giving yourself enough credit
There's nothing funny about 250 of our brothers getting fired....How would you feel if that was you, and you had the weight of the world on your shoulders everyday when you go to work...worrying about how you're gonna pay your mortgage or put food on the table?

Yes Liam was able to get some supervisors working grievances paid. But we are talking here where UPS broke the contract by firing that veteran driver without due process and labeling everything under the sun "dishonesty". There was a day when "dishonesty" meant stealing packages. So there is a big difference between the two. Again, the way most of us in my center see it Liam did the right thing and they wish more BAs would stand up like Liam did!! Liam check mated management's abuse of power by doing the only thing UPS understands: backing up his words with action!!

How do you guys go from these statements on the day of the walkout, to calling for 804 E-BOARD to resign?

Very simple! It Tim had put the board on notice after Melville strike this would have never happen! Two men under his direct control either said screw him? Or he supported there actions!! Now it's either resign or watch ups destroy this local with fines, sanctions and another list of future targets!

How much stuff was on our website about not striking and the repercussions! None? Just victory! They have yet to educate when needed!! Tim still hasn't made a statement on the matter on the hall site. They don't care! They felt that this had to happen to bring attention to 804 to show Tim ever had ballz! To bad it was at drivers expense!

Ps! It's hard to deliver, pickup and check grammar so pls excuse me! Does this mean I'm least best?

Two men under his control (not really, he cant fire them...only the membership can) stood up to the company, something the old board forgot how to do!!
Tell me why is it that you only post on here to attack fellow union members and our elected leaders but NEVER management's conduct?? Its only the political opponents like yourself who are calling for any resignations?? Which side are you on!!

You are not supporting them by constantly slamming their Local's leadership.
This walkout happened Feb 26th, and last I have heard, all the drivers are still working.
Somebody must be fighting hard for them or at least some of them would be gone by now.

I support the drivers but their TDU board screwed up

I could post about about terminated drivers that union did nothing help! Or when they ask drivers to resign!! Or when they tell drivers to file grievances and receive a horrible reply!! There are many things wrong that they do wrong daily in the buildings! You and others like you will never see this! Glasses are too dark! It's sad! You can dish it for years! But can't take it!

Bull s#!&. The story about the Maspeth 250 IS on the union website as well as stories about numerous politicians and former Labor Secretary Reich pushing for our men to be reinstated .
What else does Tim have to prove?? He and his men went up against some entrenched old guard "leaders" and WON!! He fixed a near bankrupt H/W Fund!! Fixed our broken grievance procedure!! Got us our strongest contract yet including a much needed $400 pension increase!! Cut their own salaries by about 1/3!! And did all this WITHOUT selling out the membership!! Does he have some super aggressive BAs on staff?? Yes, but they dont buckle under and play Go along to get along. They push right back and make UPS feel the pain!!

Also if you are delivering and picking up while you are on here, then you are not too smart!!

Hoffa/Hall deserve to be slammed!! They have been in office since 1998!! What can they show for it?? Name me anything they can brag about?? NOTHING!!! Weak, sell out contracts?? Being in UPS' pockets??
Please, you boot lickers cannot stand it when real leaders like Sylvester or Zuckerman push back against Hoffa!!

Does the politicians and former labor sec know that the driver that was fired had been punching in early and doing absolutely nothing? Tell the truth! Wasn't he upset because his start time got changed prior? Once the truth comes out! You guys will have to retreat to higher ground!

We all know TDU fuels the fire for wanna-be stewards, locker room lawyers and fist pumpers. The problem is these people are looking for action NOW but TDU fails to illustrate that winning large battles or legalities is a slow grind of the mind. Most of the TDU issues are like a story with no context and confuse drivers with a display of socialistic propaganda when every local has their own sovereignty or rules. (That being said you get what you deserve whether or not you keep voting NO or sign a petition). The fact is the Local takes the burden of getting drivers their job reinstated with back pay for a righteous wrongful termination, not the drivers. I mean who gives :censored2: if an E-Board is in the 150,000 dollar club as long as they don't put members on the streets right?. I truly feel for these drivers especially when they were just following the leadership's interpretation of the contract language. In my opinion TDU can only hope they pull off getting these guys cleared as well as something for the No votes that are left on the table.
(If not we all know they will blame Hoffa and Hall...........)
Finally you're back

Son where do I ever say I want the board to resign. Find it boy. I dare ya. I never did and I never would. It's not my local so I wouldn't say that. Ps skippy I signed the petition in support of the drivers.

My Senior Picture
I was thinking yesterday, with the luxury of hindsight, about what could have been done under protest within the confines of the contract to pressure the company on issues like these.
I believe I came up with a few, but it would take the same concerted effort that these NYC drivers showed that fateful morning.
What if every driver, for as long as it took, called in for Teamster help, on every over 70 package in the system on a given day?
This is clearly provided for in Art 44 of the Master.
Again, I don't know all the facts about this incident and won't pretend to know how it will end, but I believe desperate times call for desperate measures, a premise that played itself out many times over our unions long and storied history.
I pray for our brothers and sisters in Local 804.
God speed.

804brown is funny how you always appear when local804 is in trouble! And you always want us to believe that you have an objective point of view.
If you sir care about our brothers and sisters in maspeth you would be asking the Eboard to resign plain and simple!
