I’m not sure where I can find common ground.
Although I would say most of these things are pushed from the top down.

We're looking at a big change in November. We're possibly seeing Roe vs. Wade reversed this month. We either work to make change through our system or we break it up getting a lot of people killed. No easy choices.

I am unaware of any theories that we came from "apes."

When you put "apes" in that context, it makes the theory of evolution seem less credible, and more ridiculous than it deserves.

Can you imagine what a hilarious scene that would be? I can imagine the hung-over space aliens waking up, realizing what they'd done, doing a walk of shame, crawling and vomiting their way onto their ship, and leaving the scene at warp speed.

I think they visit us from time to time in order to observe us and re-affirm what an embarrassing, terrible, stupid thing they did. The infamous incident probably set a precedent for the protocol to follow when visiting the natives of other planets.

Okay, hombres, it's time for the great unwashed to solve the dilemma that our elected representatives are incapable of doing.

Please submit your proposal on how to:
A) Prevent mass shootings of innocent children, churchgoers, concert/theater attendees, etc., and
B) Preserve the 2nd Amendment Right of citizens to bear arms.

I ask that any criticism of any proposal be done with respect and a rational discussion of your disagreement, and your alternative solution.
Name calling is for losers.

My proposal is not a complete solution, but a starting point:
1) A Citizens Panel to determine which weapons are capable of inflicting mass casualties.
2) Requiring a 2-week classroom course and field training in the safe use of these weapons.
3) Trained instructors who are able to weed out unstable participants.
4) Prohibit the resale of these weapons.

This is my preliminary idea to address the issue, that will not satisfy anyone, but possibly work.

I believe in extensive background checks and thorough psychological screening of each person before a firearm purchase permit is issued.

Unfortunately I also believe that it has to be a federal standard and not in the hands of the state government.

I would like to amend my opinion about the above solutions that I suggested as my participation in this thread.

Many times in the past, I have placed the source of this trend on the closures of mental health facilities, the coinciding beginning birth years of the Millennial generation, the watershed moment of Columbine, and the subsequent generations and perpetrators that followed.

We have neglected the needs of the mentally ill for so long that I do not have a viable solution other than the ugly, slippery slope of rounding up those with documented, inheritable mental health problems, and mental health evaluations of their descendants.

That would take awhile. And as with every other plan under this administration, would undoubtedly be purposely corrupted to persecute those who are white, heterosexual, and male.
