Over, do yourself a favor and read the article. The quote, when taken out of context, does sound stupid but, when read as part of the whole, fits in nicely. Weasel Zippers is not known for their journalistic integrity.
Out of curiosity, is WZ strictly right wing nonsense, or do the "bowels of the internet" contain left wing crap as well?
On a similar front, have you ever listened to the crazy junk on right wing radio stations in the overnight hours? Psychic sasquatches, alien abductions, conspiracies galore...oh...it's all making sense now.

Is NPR totally right wing?....that's where the inteview is from. Weasel gathers news stories all in one place and they are from everywhere ........ ABC, CNN, FOX, CBS, AP, Reuters, API, etc.

This is the paragraph from which WZ lifted the quote for their misleading headline:

Way back when Gabby got shot and there was a service in the Phoenix area........the pres. said this violent talk has to stop......Both he and Debbie Downer flipped cause Palin used the word target.........using the phrase "one shot" when talking about a kid who was shot once is just plain stupid, insensitive and idiotic!! Other phrases could be much better...."one brush stroke" comes to mind.
It was a stupid use of words for a college graduate !!! Unless , of course, they are insensitive.

I agree--"one shot" was not the best choice of words---but for a "news" service like Weasel Zippers to pounce on this and for a reader such as yourself to take the bait hook, line and sinker was, to use your word, stupid.
Nah. Don't want it. Just wondered if the self described "bowels" had only right wing crap.
