I was listening to a gardening program on the radio. The lady said only her hybrid chickens lay eggs this time of the year but not her straight run chickens.

When the days get short chickens lay less. They also lay less this time of year due to molting. I don't live where it gets super cold so my chickens molt a little more randomly.

I don't know what she is referring to by the term hybrid l, maybe it's something she made up.

Straight run is not a type of chicken.

It's a way to buy them.

Chickens are sold as "sexed" meaning boy or girl and cost a little more

Or

Straight run which means unsexed which means you don't know what sex you're getting and they are usually a little cheaper
