I have the same thought when I see people at work with bad teeth.....we have dental insurance....no excuse for that.

Some people are afraid of the dentist.

I hate going to the dentist myself. But for years pre-UPS, I didn't have insurance...so I couldn't afford checkups and regular cleanings and had to shell out cash if I had to go cause of a toothache or something. One time....I had to have a crappy tooth pulled simply because I couldnt afford to pay for a root canal.
Now I don't pay for anything out of pocket....I'll suffer through a cleaning every six months.
