Possible your knee is acting up because of some pronation issue. Maybe also one leg is longer than the other, which causes even more pressure on the sciatic nerve and/or lower back.

Possibly, Aforementioned Shoeboy, Chappy's knee is acting up because he played a lot of tennis and now is a retired old faht with a bad knee.
