This is the reason my wife and I both agreed years ago to do away with the whole gift giving scene (B-days, Xmas, moms day, etc). Now IF we do anything its maybe go out to eat (not even at a fancy place). If either of us wants anything we go out and buy it ourselves--that way if it isn't right you only have yourself to blame.
