If you have an older driveway it gets cracks and weeds start to grow there. Not a big problem if you take care of it early. Not something worth replacing the driveway for.

White marble chip looses its brightness once the dust washes off and tends to turn green from mold if not in the sun.

I have a customer who puts small stone on his sidewalk and steps during the winter instead of rock salt. I have another who likes to feed the squirrels by spreading peanuts in the shells on her front steps.

I use sand on my sidewalk. It doesn't eat up concrete like salt. Just sweep it off in the spring.
