Same here, except my mother was deaf with 6 kids on food stamps and welfare. But only for a few years. Four out of 6 graduated college, with one becoming a doctor. No drug addicts or deadbeats and not a one on welfare. All due to our hard work, determination and no excuses attitudes. And of the 6 of our kids of college age or older, three have degrees and three are in college. We turned our bad childhoods into positives for our children.
