I'm pretty sure Colt stopped/restarted production on SAA's several times. I couldn't remember whether they were making them again.

Just checked. They stopped making them at the start of WWII but brought them back in the 50's. Then they stopped again in 70's for a couple years but have been making them since.

Why?

Several reasons. Not everyone would want one. You can't use it a lot of the year. Cost of maintenance. Lost yard area.

And I got a nice Uberti I really like but it's my all time favorite gun. Gotta get my hands on the real deal sooner or later.
