Make no mistake, UPS does not care about you, your welfare, or safety. The banner over one of the centers in my building that says "Safety is a personal value." is the most true and meaningful thing about safety UPS has ever said.

I know you're probably joking, but just in case you aren't: I'm serious. Do what you have to to get seniority, but slow down to a sustainable pace after that. If you go all out every day, you won't last more than a year. Two at most.

I understand not wanting to take any risks there. Every building is different. In mine, if you show up every day you're guaranteed to pass regardless of performance or other issues.
