That's the thing. Too many positions require that piece of paper like a check box. Just think how much faster you would finish taking a five day a week, six to eight hour a day course that focused on absolutely nothing but what directly pertains to being an actuary. Wouldn't have a piece of paper but would be no less qualified if not more so.

Exactly. What are the obstacles to be getting to where I need to be? Classes that have nothing to do with what the job or major entails.

I don't need history, social science, or humanities. But they force me to take it. If I didn't need history or humanities, I'd have 3 classes including the ones I'm taking in fall left until graduation.

And I would agree with that, but it isn't my fault that things are this way. And unfortunately, the system as it is, leaves very little time for learning for the sake of learning.
