We have a bunch of airports around here, and it seems like a light plane or experimental crashes about once a month. After this crash, they had a big story about these planes and had the mfg bragging about the survival rate of the pilot when the chute is deployed. We have a lot of wooded area around here and i guess a suburban street looks better than a clump of 50' pine trees to set one down on.

You know way more about this than I. It said in the story the parachute may have saved there lives
It helped, but anybody with a pilots license should be able to safely land an aircraft during an emergency without a parachute. The design of the parachute was more for if the aircraft enters a spin. Cutting the engine and pulling the chute would break the spin. But you're not home free at the point. Since you have no control in your descent you can end up anywhere. Yes chances are you will survive, but if you end up in trees, high voltage lines, or near a building, then what? I personally, would feel safer having control of that bad boy until the wheels hit the ground. You actually have a great amount of control in a no engine scenario. You lift the nose to achieve a certain airspeed and find a nice place to set it down.

They are really full of themselves, but I personally do not like them. They're not bad aircraft, I'm just one of those people who want to be able to try and fix an emergency, not have to depend on a parachute. But I know plenty of people that would pull the chute in a heart beat.

Plus flying is fun. I'd rather die trying to save it and doing something I love, than risk landing in the middle of a lake and dying because I just gave up.

So you're angry about nothing?

Let me restate the question. Why is everyone angry?
