If they want you to recycle so bad,here in New York. How come they only charge you a 5 cent deposit on beverages? And not on other plastic bottles,like shampoo and window cleaner?

It's an older law...from the late 70's or early 80's. It's more to help prevent bottle and can litter on the side of the roads, I believe. I wish they'd do anyway with it. But you don't have to return them to get your deposit..a lot of people just toss them in the recycling bins with other plastic and cans and stuff. Which is like tossing away money!
