My wife got a call one year just before Christmas from our bank asking if I was in Cancun. Unfortunately for me, I wasn't.

I got a call about 3 attempts, one of which got approved for about $106. My bank is taking that one back. Beats me how they got it. This was a new card and it has never been out of my sight.

We have Visa debit/check cards we tell the cashiers to run as credit. That way, we are covered.

Only spooky place is gas stations that may have bogus card readers.
