A UK study led by the University of Leeds found the average electric car puts 2.24 times more stress on roads than a similar petrol vehicle – and 1.95 more than a diesel. Larger electric vehicles can cause up to 2.32 times more damage to roads.

The stress on roads causes greater movement of asphalt which can lead to small cracks and eventually expand into potholes with local government authorities left to repair the damage.

Impact is even bigger with larger EVs, which can lead to up to 2.32 times more damage to road infrastructure, according to the report as outlined by the Daily Telegraph.

The increased weight of EVs can be primarily attributed to their heavy batteries, which can weigh up to 500 kilograms.
how many potholes for privately owned cars vs public transport

Simple physics Ricky. Those buses weigh a heck of a lot more than cars.
cars = rush hour

buses dont

cars are more inefficient. more energy per person.

and theres way more cars than buses

plus why would you want to drive a car when you can sit in a luxurious bus and go on your phone or laptop

Where do you get the idea that buses are luxurious? I sat on many a bus in Mexico. More like stood. Packed like sardines. If you think governments are going to spend enough money to have enough buses so that everyone can sit down and leisurely look at the internet you're kidding yourself.

the govt could easily do that if we the people had any expectations and it would be much better than driving a car

You're kidding yourself. You think the wealthy are going to give up their private cars? Heck, they can't even give up their private jets when they fly to conferences on climate change. Can you imagine how many buses it'll take to run over every road on a regular basis to provide 340 million people with comfortable seating?

I've talked about this before. You claimed that in Europe they have great buses now. I've experienced it. You walk to the nearest bus stop and wait in all kinds of weather. Hopefully the next bus will be soon and there will be an available seat. Then you slowly ride to the nearest stop to your destination. Might have to change buses. Then you get off and walk to where you want to be. In all kinds of weather. It's doable if you don't have mobility issues. And don't mind the cold and heat. If you're shopping for groceries there may not be enough room on the bus for your bags. Assuming you can carry them to the bus stop.

I'm surprised you don't advocate for ebikes. But then you live in Canada where much of the year it would be too cold and icy.

many people with health problems cant drive anyways

yes we can make the wealthy give it up: theyre the minority, were the majority

yes public transit is more efficent than private cars. my car is 14 feet long. you could do way less space for a seat on a bus and still be further ahead.

im not talking about europe and yes their public transit is superior to north america.

Yah, you're going to make people. No, you aren't. I've got a lot more experience with this. The only way we're going to an all bus system is if we run out of oil and we have no choice. That may happen in a few hundred years.

Civilization set to collapse in 15 years. The price you pay for living in the matrix is collapse. corrupt automakers will try to stay relevant with electric cars
