Panel gone wrong, what now?

I don't care to see this phrased as a conspiracy. We appear to be currently living in a macroclimate where arbitrators might side with the company more. It has nothing to do with the concept of one specific person getting a paid meal beforehand. I think the yearslong deadlocks would have been better in this case.
Whatever really went on is just a day in the life of the UPS driver, you become what other people think of you. I can say this much. First bit of news I get about being fired like this, it goes straight to the local media. Then it goes to organizations and agitators for picketing. Then I blow my entire lifes savings in laywers just out of sheer spite.
Go ahead. But I have bad news an arbitrators decision is binding. Do you know what that means.

LOL....good luck with that.

I know a guy that tried to take a small cassette recorder into his panel.
They saw it and stopped the meeting quickly.
The recorder was removed from the room.

Makes you wonder what both sides are hiding.....
Every conversation in the panel while in session is recorded. They go on the record. There is an official recorder other device are not allowed.

Could be, but generally not. Most people that lose their job would tell you it’s shady, but there’s a pretty good chance they were there for a pretty shady reason on their part.

BS cases that don’t belong, they rarely make it there.
I would imagine the company also knows when they bring BS cases and usually try and settle right before the panel because they are worried about back pay and just wanted to keep the guy out as long as possible. Our panels are every month. How often are they in other areas?

And for sure, the company knows they can drag out a BS case for a very long time and then offer someone’s job back with no backpay. Most people will accept it because they don’t wanna go through the anxiousness of waiting for a panel decision.

How often can you or the company postpone? I know we changed ours in the West to only one postponement and it must be agreed upon.

I saw this happen a fair number of times, the company would hold the line at all the hearings and then offer the member their job back 2 days before the panel. They weren't all BS cases either, there were a couple where we figured the driver was toast and everyone was surprised when the company brought them back. It might be different now, but I seem to remember that our panels were quarterly.

We've had a few like that here from what I've heard also. Company just decides that they feel the member have learned their lesson from the loss of pay or possibly the center manager is suddenly hurting for drivers.

That's why they could pass out suspensions in the fall. So they can use that is an excuse to sit somebody down. While they train the seasonals
