Panel hearing for termination

Off the leash

Every couple years, a group of people (including management) get caught stealing.... by changing address labels.

Some things don't change.

What a coincidence.

Someone randomly buys a new watch on the internet.... that was stolen from the place they work.

And then, trades their other one for a case of beer and a bottle of whiskey ?

This has to be a troll thread

Depends, what kind of whiskey was it?

I knew a 27 year driver who stole a cell phone from a package off the route next to his, as soon as activated it they busted him (I think it was ATT but it might have been T-mobile, either way my understanding is that they worked very closely with UPS security on any phone that shipped through us and came up missing). He was one of the last people you'd think would do something like that, like I said 27 year driver who came to work everyday and was never in any trouble and then out of the blue he throws it all away for a cell phone that cost less than what he made in a week. Never heard a good explanation for why he did it.
Remember the cow, dell? or Gateway? boxes? A driver threw them all on dock at a major company, receiver signed and left. Driver threw one back in his truck. Never heard how he got it to his house, but a year later his pc broke and he called for repair. Busted, how stupid.

20 year It professional here. Word of advice to tell all your up and coming drivers and people in the warehouse: DONT STEAL TECHNOLOGY...

If it connects to the internet, it has a mac address... Those are captured on EVERYTHING. We document ever mac address on everything for this very purpose.. Unless you know how to MAC spoof and most of these people have no clue what that even is, we dont shut the technology down.. I'm not 100% familiar with our relationship with ATT/Apple but if its anything like it is with laptop providers etc, all of these pieces of hardware want to connect to the WWW for updates and validations... If we privately flag that MAC as stolen, we would simple wait for it to be reported as activated and request the details.. This is why smart criminals no longer steal smartphones and stuff.. You're going to get caught.. Or the person you sold it to will and that typically leads LE back to the thief.

People steal for parts instead of keeping devices intact

So you're saying stick to untraceable precious metals? Ok. Thanks for the tip.

Trailer sweep is a cake walk
I just hope they make this particular incident a movie that gets put up on UPS University for training lol.. Im betting that Corp is reading this thread going "* THEYRE ON TO US!!!!" If you listen closely, several process change requests were just filed to alter the "theft fishing" tactics to fish out unethical drivers lol..
Hey Powder, what actor should play you in the movie?

Good afternoon everyone. I was terminated and awaiting a hearing next week at panel. I’m accused of tampering & dishonesty with a package. So here’s the rundown. I bought a Apple watch in early March and a month later I found out it was stolen from work in early February. LP asked for info and I gave them all I had. They said I need some proof on where or who I bought it from. I gave them info and now they’re saying maybe it’s a fake account from 2 years ago with a fake name & profile. In this package that went missing was the watch & 11 iPhones (LP told us). I’m not accused of taking the phones, just the watch. I’ve asked can they pull video to see and they said no they recorded over them already. My local is saying they feel like I’m screwed even tho I have given all evidence and ups standpoint is that they got me with the watch that I got proof I bought. What’s my chances and any info yas can give me to help. Thanks all

There's definitely more to this story.

The part that was left out is that you knew your co-worker was stealing stuff & you thought, 'since I didn’t steal it, what can they do to me?'

You are in possession of stolen property -- not just any stolen property, but work property -- very dumb.

If you were the boss, what would you do?

In my opinion, this will all have to be proven. If I was on a jury or panel.....I would make UPS prove it exactly.

It's all circumstantial....so far. It is possible the OP bought a stolen watch....unknowingly. Possible.

Now, define "work property".
