Part Time Jobs vs Full Time Jobs Contractual Language

I have a question for everyone on this board. Can someone please explain the difference between, "Preferred Jobs," and "Bid Jobs." From my understanding, "Preferred Jobs" go to PT Employees, and "Bid Jobs" go to the FT employees. For a PT employee, they can sign a list for any of these preferred jobs when an opening becomes available, and whoever has the highest seniority gets it. Same thing for FT employees on bid jobs, but there are circumstances where drivers get to rebid every six months whereas PT hub workers do not. PT workers fill vacancies and remain in their preferred job so long as they do not switch to another. The reason I ask this question is because I am a PT worker in a preferred job. I assume if I go FT, I should be booted out of my position for my job falls under Section 3 of Article 50 in our Supplementary Contract. I am part of UPS Central PA. Am I correct in the language that these jobs listed below are for PT workers only, and that any PT worker may file grievance to have a FT employee removed from said job? My current position had all FT employees kicked out when they opened my building and transferred people over. I am not trying to upset FT workers, but we are supposed to go by the contract, correct? There are many other jobs that have FT workers in them listed below.

Article 50 - Section 3

Part time employees will work off the part time employee seniority lists at each Center. Only part time employees hired after August 1, 1987 for the hub only, may be required to work a six (6) day operation. Employees may be worked any five (5) days. A standard work week may be established in relative seniority order with a posted day off schedule.

The Employer will fill all vacancies and permanent new jobs for part time employees from the part time selection list in all months except November and December.

Part time employees with six (6) months or more seniority shall have the right to place their name on the list of employees waiting to be moved to a preferred job within their building. Such preferred jobs shall include, but not be limited to: preloader, sorter, clerical, irregular train, designated responder, carwasher, loader unloader, smalls sorter, smalls bagger, HVD, LVD, box line sorter, primary sorter, trailer sweeper, revenue auditor, SPA, SLAW. Sure Post, ODC/FDC, Data Acquisition and Haz Mat Acceptance Auditor . Employees do not have the right to select any specific unit, load or workstation unless a prior past practice has been established.

A maximum of twenty-five percent (25%) of the employees on a shift shall be allowed to change shifts in any one (1) calendar year. A shift includes different days of the week. The employee obtaining the new position shall remain on that shift for at least six (6) months

I accidentally used the old contract. New contract adds tender to the list. Should read.

I did email our business manager, but I have a feeling I'm going to upset some stewards because they are FT and hold those positions in question. They may not give me a real answer due to bias.
If there is a grey area you probably won’t see the results you want. Let us know how it goes. Just curious about your seniority

I’m part time. Almost two years in the building. The new EZRPA. Going FT won’t take too long here. I just want to know because I may or may not go FT. I do like my preferred job, but understand we have a contract in place.

You’ve left important details out.

What is your preferred job?

What are the job titles of the FT employees?

And why is it that you care what other employees are doing in that center?

Is your work being directly affected?
