Nothing to see here. Move along.Noticed on upsers this morning there was a brief announcement giving the names of the three men. Near the end of the article was this: "Please refrain from speculating about this incident."
That struck me as really odd, to include that, in the first formal announcement coming from the company.
Your thoughts?
Ups doesn't talk about anything that could be portrayed as bad publicity in the public eye. Never have and never will. This won't change anything at work it might just change how they run the panel decisions.Noticed on upsers this morning there was a brief announcement giving the names of the three men. Yep, typical UPS answer to anything wrong.....buisness as usual.....use your handrail..........There is a special place in hell for them!!!!Nothing to see here. Move along.
This is why drivers skip PCMs. Are we in grade school? There was nothing mentioned at our PCM yesterday morning and I heard nothing about it until I got to one of my afternoon pickup stops. The owner thought he was being funny by saying that "I need to start being nicer to the UPS guys" in light of the tragedy. I calmly reminded him that there are three families who no longer have their husbands/fathers and that this type of tragedy is nothing to be made light of.
Our PCM focused on eating healthy lunches. Our center manager asked two of our drivers to show us what they had packed in their lunch boxes. One of them pulled out healthy choices----fruit, sandwich, water, and a healthy snack----while the other pulled out a big bag of chips, 6 cans of Mtn Dew, beef jerky and a small can of Vienna sausages. I bring a ham sandwich, banana and 2 bottles of water, which is provided by the company during the summer.
The sad part is that the Mtn Dew driver, who is doing everything wrong, will probably outlive us all.

Anyone on here from there? What was he like? Not trying to get someone to to talk ill of him just curious.

Stories starting to emerge that the murderer was a known whack-job and fellow employees kept their distance. Also stories emerging that the two that were murdered were well regarded by the employees in the center. The Business Manager was engaged and also on vacation this week but stopped by the office. Coincidence that Joe was there or was he stalking the business manager?
So, for all those who jumped to the conclusion that management were bad people and pushed this whacko to commit murder, you may want to re-think your position. As I have stated earlier, there is only one person responsible for this tragedy and only one person to blame, the cowardly murderer Joe.
"“For years people have talked about how they thought this could take place,” an unnamed co-worker, who worked with all three men, told AL.com. “This man made people uncomfortable and no one at our facility who knew Joe was caught by surprise."
Of course, the obligatory quotes are there from the murderer's family - "such as nice guy and wonderful person" and "would never hurt anyone." More examples and indications of people not accepting responsibility for ones actions.
I'm not sure what one should do when they see someone that is troubled like this murderer. Say nothing and keep your distance and try not to get on his "list"? Unless there is an explicit threat made, how do you prevent someone who "makes people uncomfortable" from striking out?

Stories starting to emerge......
It also ventured into sloppy journalism by describing the incident as a "rein of terror". I am sure it was a frightening situation for everyone there but I would not say it lasted long enough to qualify as a rein.
I find it funny that you left off this crucial bit of info..Stories starting to emerge that the murderer was a known whack-job and fellow employees kept their distance. “The irony is, one of the victims knew, and had been forewarned, that this man possessed the potential to do what he did. He should (along with his superiors) have taken action to prevent this horrible day.”---Now I’m not condoning what the guy did....but it sure sounds like someone was negligent by not doing something pro-active..........sounds like grounds for a multimillion dollar lawsuit to me
Really, the guy smells? It would be very interesting to know if fellow employees went to management with their concerns of this person...
I mean, we had fellow employees complain of a co-workers hygiene ( smell-odor ) and management pulled them into office ~ with union stewart present ...
