Republicans are saying Trump had his documents in a locked room after the lock was requested by the FBI. Biden had documents in multiple locations. One location, the Penn Biden Center, was opened in 2018 and had documents brought to it but Biden left office in early 2017. No matter how you frame it Biden is in serious trouble over this and saying "But Trump..." doesn't change it.

Biden is not in serious trouble. And not because the “media and Washington elites” are covering for him.
It’s because nobody really cares. It’s not the crime. It’s the lies.

I honestly don't know what Trump did. I know he had documents that the government had been aware he had for some time. Biden the same. Let's see how it all shakes out.

Does anybody care? No charges filed. Sure looks sus all the way around but no charges. Does anybody care? So if I had to predict, nothing happens to Biden and there’s only prosecution against trump if republicans decide it’s needed to keep him out of serious contention for the presidency.
Hunter Biden claimed to have paid $49,910 a month to live at dad’s house between March 2017 and February 2018 while the classified documents were also there. This thing is far from over for Joe Biden. It could very well be worse than whatever was going on with Trump’s classified documents.
How do you figure worse than Trump? Do you mean if Hunter sold access to them? Is Trumps case better because he claims to own them and therefore can sell access to the highest bidder?
I think the difference is that I and other democrats don’t argue against investigating the Bidens. Hell, I don’t see a lot of Biden defenders around.
I just don’t think it’s going to have any impact on anything. I think influence peddling is something most people think is corrupt but unavoidable. The swamp is inhabited by swamp creatures.

I tend to agree with you as I think if you look back in the Mar-a-Lago thread, I made the prediction nothing would happen to anyone. Hunter is a drug addict who has been known to make his money off of access to the Biden name. Let’s not pretend there’s not extreme risk to classified documents if they’re located in a box in the garage where Hunter lives.
How would Trump’s claim that he had Presidential discretion to declassify documents automatically mean he wants to sell them?
If it doesn’t it’ll be because Trump is the Republican Presidential candidate in 2024 and a lot of people, myself included, would never vote for him in any case.

Donald Trump is all about the deal. Always has been. He doesn’t want to sell them? Really? How naive do we have to be to believe that.
And it’ll have no effect because we’re still two years from the election. This will be a dead issue or people will be numb to it. How many people didn’t vote for Trump based on his refusal to observe the emoluments clause? My guess is none. People expect and accept that kind of corruption.

People don't vote for Trump because they're not going to vote for Trump, period. He could shoot someone in the middle of Fifth Avenue and those who would vote for him would still vote for him, right?
Biden keeping classified documents in a box in his garage while his drug addicted, for sale to foreigners son lived at his house might actually lose him some votes.
And you still think you have him on the emoluments clause when Dems never impeached him over it. Sure, you'll say no one cares as if everyone cared that Trump supposedly said something inappropriate to Zelensky on the phone about looking into Biden corruption and got impeached over it.

Its interesting to watch two people who consider themselves left of center. One is an honest arbiter of truth and the other has continued to make excuses for why they continue to pedal the ideas if they’re not being hypocritical.
We know for a fact that Hunter was selling access to his father. You don't know at all that Trump was selling state secrets to anyone.
