I have diabetic neuropathy in my feet. They hurt all the time and that will never go away. I have knees that seriously ache when I climb stairs. My body no longer produces insulin and I take shots twice a day. I have high blood pressure. My diabetes is out of control and the insulin doesn't bring it down to acceptable levels. I expect the dosage to continue to be increased like it was a month ago. My A1C was over 13. You think you know but you don't. And before I go I'm going to see a few places. My wife told me that's what she wanted to do when we got married but turns out she didn't. Not giving up my dreams and yet I can still help her over there because I need very little, not a partier.
Sounds about like me although the highest my A1C got was 9.1.
My Primary Care Physician* referred me to a Diabetic Specialist who put me on Humulin R U-500 which means it is a short-acting insulin at
5 times normal concentration.
The shots you are taking may not being absorbed due the the higher fluid levels at R U-100 strength.
My last two A1C reading were 6.1 and 6.5 since I went on the U-500 concentrate.
*Your PCP can only prescribe U-100 concentration.
