President Trump

Fischer faces seven criminal charges, only one of which was the focus of the Supreme Court case. Even if the obstruction charge is ultimately dismissed, the other charges, including assaulting a police officer and entering a restricted building, will remain in place.
As it should be. Pretending this is not a victory for people salaciously charged Is certainly misinformation on your part. At the very least, there will be a lot of retrials as well as severely injuring the case against Donald Trump from the DOJ

A substantial victory in the Supreme Court for presidential immunity.
It means that a president can literally do whatever he damn well pleases literally any act he choses to undertake, slap an "official acts" label on his order and all that would stand in the way is the flimsy, powerless little "hearing" process to determine if it is or is not an official act.

And I think that’s what was argued was always the case you just didn’t believe it. It does not give President immunity from unofficial acts.

Any executive order handed down by a president stamped as an "official act" can be anything he wants and all he has to do is to designate it as an "official act" and be immune from prosecution. He could issue an executive order banishing all labor unions and be completely immune from any response or prosecution as long as he decrees that it is an official executive order. There will however be this flimsy powerless hearing process to determine whether or nor that official act meets the definition but it will take years for that hearing to reach a conclusion.

You guys all wanted a strong arm autocratic president for life....Well, you just got one.

Again, he’s always had that power. Nothing has changed. An executive order like you’re talking about would be challenged. Just like a lot of executive orders are.

But that has now changed. The only recourse now is a powerless hearing process that will likely take years to work it's way through the courts. In the meantime the executive order will remain in place and unchallenged,

If this SCOTUS ruling had been in place when Nixon was president he would have never left office no matter how damning the evidence against him was and would have been America's first president for life.

And things have gotten worse since then. High gas prices, high grocery prices, limited opportunities, U.S. citizens being murdered by people who shouldn't be here. At some point only the most in denial will say everything is ok.

Well, he left office on his own, so we would never know for sure if the Supreme Court would’ve ruled in his favor then. 🤷‍♂️

He knew he was going to be impeached and Barry Goldwater went up to the WH and told him he would be impeached and removed. If the SCOTUS ruling was in place and immune from prosecution he would have stayed there for life.

But who says they still can’t be impeached? For life? Do you think you’re overdramatizing a little?

When Nixon was up for impeachment it was based on numerous criminal charges. And given the immunity Nixon would have had the charges could not have been used against him. Trump tried anything he could dream up in order to stay in power. No reason for Nixon not to have done the same and would have had a free hand due to his immunity from prosecution.
