President Trump

Old Man Jingles

Rat out of a cage
Mueller's prosecutors dropped a telling hint about Manafort's case to a federal judge this week
Experts say it's unlikely Ellis will ultimately dismiss the charges against Manafort. But in the event that he does, the US attorney's office for the Eastern District of Virginia will likely pick up the thread.

"This is a scathing, detailed indictment against Manafort," Cramer said. "They've got him cold. The only question now is whether Mueller or the US attorney's office will charge him."
And whether Trump will pardon him the day after the November 2018 elections.

The point is neither of us know who’s on Mueller’s team. I just believe people can be competent professionals regardless of their politics. But keep screaming about the evil boogie man George Soros, it really makes you look tethered to reality.
Pretty certain that was the first time I've mentioned Soros. Point is these efforts are well financed by deep pockets.

there are many ways this could go including the judge narrowing the focus of this case to align with the SP's mandate.

You keep forgetting what the mandate is, it’s wide open.

There’s enough evidence against Manafort, why shouldn’t he be prosecuted?

How do you know its wide open? They have never produced the original unredacted memo specifying exactly what he was to investigate. A special prosecutor is not allowed to have unlimited power to do anything he feels like. Mueller got slapped down for that by the judge.

And why was memo redacted? Why the shroud of secrecy?

"...and any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation."

Exactly which part of that is confusing?

Has to be within the authorized narrow limits. No fishing expeditions. If Mueller can't link Manafort to the Russian collusion case he was supposed to be investigating the judge might toss out the case.

‘Any’ matters.

Seems crystal clear to me.

“If the Special Counsel believes it necessary and appropriate, the Special Counsel is authorized to prosecute Federal crimes arising from the investigation of these matters”.

Crystal clear.
