President Trump

McGhan is a lawyer for the Office of the President, not President Trump.

There’s no attorney-client privilege here.
That's true but Trump still could have had him not testify or put restrictions on him.

If Mueller objects, it would have to go to the SCOTUS since you have split decisions on this at the next level of courts.

McGahn is the White House government lawyer.
Regardless what Trump said he had to testify.
Almost ... McGhan actually is the lawyer representing the Office of the President, not the person who is President.

Not legally determined at this point. There are conflicting decisions at lower levels of the US Courts and would have to be decided by the SCOTUS.

But Trump has executive privilege and he decides whether to allow McGahn to be questioned by Mueller. McGahn was so surprised that Trump allowed him to be interviewed that he brought in his own lawyer during the interview to protect himself. He thought he might be getting set up to be the fall guy.

Maybe, maybe not.

If McGhan (hypothetically) had direct evidence of the Prez doing something illegal, it would be his duty to report it.

Trump can instruct the White House Lawyer to do this or that, but at the end of the day, McGhan’s loyalty is to the Office, not the President.

Wrong.

We can agree to disagree ... doesn't matter what we think anyway.
