Which makes me wonder; If Sarah Palin looked like Karen Hughes would she have the huge following? How 'bout if she looked like Anne Coulter?

I wondered thee same thing about Obama...if he was white would he have been as popular and would the media had treated him different?

Teddy's anger

One of the enduring mysteries of the 2008 campaign was what got Ted Kennedy so mad at Bill Clinton. The former president's entreaties, at some point, backfired, and the explanation has never quite emerged.
I've finally gotten my hands on a copy of Game Change, in which John Heliemann and Mark Halperin report:
[A]s Hillary bungled Caroline, Bill’s handling of Ted was even worse. The day after Iowa, he phoned Kennedy and pressed for an endorsement, making the case for his wife. But Bill then went on, belittling Obama in a manner that deeply offended Kennedy. Recounting the conversation later to a friend, Teddy fumed that Clinton had said, A few years ago, this guy would have been getting us coffee.

I'm not sure why Kennedy would be so upset. Seems like that's how things in power structures work. I seem to remember somewhere that the newest member on the Supreme Court has the illustrious honor of...yes, you guessed it: getting the coffee.

His name was John Edwards and while the press liked him, I think the population at large was luke-warm to him at best. Obama is Edwards packaged for super-stardom. Palin's got the packaging but needs more than packing peanuts in the box.

Absolutely. The problem with Palin is she speaks common english. Its a language that the people understand while it baffles the liberals. :happy-very:
The problem with Palin is that when she speaks common English there is no knowledge of the subject on which she speaks. Something I would not say of Karen Hughes. But thank-you for not saying somthing stupid like, "Oh, I never really noticed. Is she attractive? I've only listened to her on the radio." Marketing matters, but it's not the only thing that matters.

I'm not sure a lack of knowledge bothers the people. For instance a presidential candidate is expected to know the names of all the various heads of state by the news. Most people could care less if Palin knew who the head of some obscure country is.

Many of Palins comments were legitimate ones that the press played with and liberal comedians distorted to make her sound stupid. The Obama loving press for instance attacked her foriegn policy experience. Palin made the point that Alaskas proximity to Russia actually gave her more experience in that arena then most state governors. We all know where that argument went after that.

Bill Clinton had the small state of Arkansas as his experience and no one sweated the details. We believe Obama worked as a community activist but are not sure since his records were sealed. But again no big deal there.

So we have now had two presidents elected that had very little experience. I have fun with Obamas bowing but I think it shows that Obama has memorized the answers to the tests. So he can pronounce the names of various dignataries but did not know that you do not bow to them.

I think she can learn to recite names if that is what we hold near and dear. In the mean time she speaks english. Real english that the normal people speak. Not all the double talk political mumbo jumbo that translates into another political screwing. She is very grass roots in style and speak and that I think is what is attracting many americans. The preverbial breath of fresh air that many americans are looking for.

here's a Ron James Clip on Sarah Palin someone posted in the chat room last night. Theres some funny stuff here. But again as I listen to some of the sexist comments think back to a conservative comedian michael richards doing a similar routine about Obama.

Scarey is it not. The liberals did everything they could to destroy Palin and I repeat and her family and yet people have somehow seen through this campaign and still like her.

You need to pick up a history book sometimes. It was Democrats who sicked the dogs on and hosed the civil rights marchers.
I am aware of that.

Yesterday's Dems are today's Republicans. Richard Shelby from AL is but one example. He was a Dem then, and is a Republican now.

There are many people who were Democrats in the past whom I as a liberal progressive would want nothing to do with.

Yeah --AND by the way the most intelligent Ivy league President believes we have 57 states --his words not mine or Palin's.
Would you like to hear a little bit about the intelligence of Biden ---I think not !!!
Then again Obama can always once again tell his bowling joke about physically challenged people --lets not talk about "rocket scientists"
Also the c-span health care debate that Obama promised --I am sure enjoying the transparency!!! Did Obama lie ? Pelosi seemed to think so --yes your are right -why care about what Pelosi would say --another "rocket scientist":sad-little:
P.S. Maybe you know --America does not --what happened behind closed doors with the UNIONS yesterday --more "special secret deals " ?????

LOL...As an Independent  your really reaching for excuses for defending the intellectually challenged Sarah Palin. Aren't all you right of center guys always preaching to leave Georgey boy Bush alone, and out of the Obama equation as far as comparison and excuses. Well first chance you get, your attempting to compare Obama's intelligence against Palin's. Deep down inside, I think we all know that answer, and you don't want to go there...BTW Nice try comparing gaffs to actual intelligence....

Ok, back on topic. Destroying Palin ! Only this time I'll let one of the Rights hero's do all the work....

Diesel,
Again, you are so very open minded.
Right----Lack of Intelligence
Left --of course only gaffs --they are super intelligent.

Have met alot of "highly educated " people in my life --that posses absolutely no "common sense"

So glad that you can identify with the Limosine Liberals that look down on all of us --including you as --blue collared buffons!:happy-very:
