Schumer Shutdown Showdown

Trump shoots off his mouth but that doesn't change the fact the Dems aren't willing to be bipartisan. They wanted a "clean" bill on DACA. In other words DACA only with no concessions to immigration reform. And as was pointed out there's nothing in the continuing resolution they're against. But they want DACA included so the shutdown is on them. Unfortunately the public perception, with the help of the media, is that it's the Republicans causing the problem.
Some MSM have come out against the Ds.

The net investment income tax is just one example of the complicated nature of the U.S. tax laws. The NIIT was a surtax that was created as part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, taking effect in 2013 and supplementing the revenue from Medicare payroll taxes on earned income by broadening its effective reach to unearned investment income.

This is the $10,000 we were required to pay.

I agree with you. But programs that are self sustaining, like SS and Medicare, only need tweaking, not draconian measures.
I feel guilty (just a tiny bit) that someone like me draws SS and on Medicare (in addition to UPS Retirement Health Insurance).
I don't need either but I get them even though I don't need financially.

The US Government could start with a needs based requirement for SS and Medicare.

Hey Butt from everything I've seen from you you seem to be a reasonable man, if you feel a twinge of guilt getting what is rightfully your's (based on federal compact) you can always help a charity or person to the extent that your guilt is absolved. I agree with you however, if you don't need it don't take it.
