Should part time employees make the same rate as full time employees?

UnionStrong

Sorry, but I don’t care anymore.
I've had enough of this place. My confirmation bias is not being respected here. I am going to UPSers reddit where the majority of posters are in agreement I deserve the same top rate as FT. *hair flip*
You don’t belong there. You have a sense of humor. Stay here, where you can nurture it.

Originally having the same wages for both FT and PT was a way to protect FT jobs.

We used to. It was to protect the FT jobs.

What most of you new guys (under 30 years) is that PT and FT used to make the same wages. Even now I have the same hourly rate as the FT car washers. For a while I was paid more. This was to protect FT jobs and was an incentive for UPS to create more FT jobs.

In other words you read about it in a book.

I obviously don't have first-hand knowledge, just like I didn't have first hand knowledge of the first time a shoe was tied, but I know how to do it. Why are you so anti-history?

You avoiding me? Why can't someone know history?

Yeah, this vote is going to go one of two ways. Solidarity, or, it's going to break the Union.
Break the Union, we are all ****ed.
Like it or not, you have to stand up for 60% of the workforce this time around.

Uh huh.

So all the previous offers that screwed part timers went just fine, but this one will break the union.

I disagree. I want the union to fight for y’all. But history disagrees with you that it would break the union. And solidarity certainly doesn’t mean 42 an hour.

Break the union? For PTers? Seriously? No one even knows who the :censored2: you are. How do you think you kept the same starting wage for forty years?

Yeah, part timers here. I punch in, do clerking for a few hours, then throw irregs for another 5 or 6 hours. When that's done, I relax by doing another hour or two of clerking. I can look at addresses or businesses and know what route it's going to.
Are you telling me a combo employee deserves more than me because they were able to land a full time job? They certainly don't work harder than me.
Because you’re describing a FT job.
