Strike in Chicago?

Gee.... I wonder why both sides can't sit down & talk rationally?

Can you guys start a new thread when this becomes somewhat informative again, instead of the "you suck, no YOU suck, NO YOU suck" crap?
It is like a day time soap opera. You learn the characters and tune in three weeks later and they are in the same room having the same conversation.
The words spoken mean little. The personal drama is the key.

But at the same time, both sides are saying things we all know to be true. I think that is what intrigues me more than the drama. Yeah they attack each other, but there are some irrefutable points that both arguments have. Intrinsically, these points do not have counter-arguments, nor do they get refuted (because of that). Personally, I like seeing how these specific elements play-out in reality. In this case, it will be the contract that is agreed to that settles this for me (assuming there is a contract that is agreed to).

Thats the reaction you expect to see from management when you speak a name of someone that doesnt back down from ups. Marty hand you your butt on a plate before?

We already have support openly from 5 locals to extend strike lines. I wouldnt be shipping any nda's next thursday, wink, wink.

Red,

honestly. Marty is done. Its great that he is grasping on straws and still trying to revive himself but if he is all you got then you got nothing. Soap opera ends in five days and you go back to preaching how your union beat the company into submission to get what you want.

Realistically your union should not reveal negotiation details until all is settled. It takes a lot of pressure of of your negotiators so you guys dont have to grandstand like you have been.

200,000 teamsters that have nothing to do with 705s strike vote? What are you talking about upstate?

I am talking about 1% of Teamster UPSers potentially disrupting the lives of the other 99% if they do follow through on their work stoppage.

Work under the existing, work hard to reach an equitable settlement, and then fall in line with the rest of us and become part of the NMA.

Jim Casey said it was possible to be a good employee and and good union member at the same time. The teamsters have always said it's them against us.

I was still waiting for a real answer on this one so I guess I will call this myth BUSTED!
Red and BM are members of the Teamsters that voice THEIR point of view. I dont quote everything you say as UPS`s point of view, get where I am coming?

But Benefits Are Great!

OK, for us really dumb people (speaking of me only) can both sides lay out the top 5 points of contention? Because reading this, I can still not find where the disagreement is.

LIST (don't explain) top 5 areas that need to be fixed in contract.

I was asked who and where was it was said them vs us i pointed out where and when it has nothing to do with jim caseys quote, because nothing was posed about it.....dont dabble in the convos if you cant pay attention, thanks

Um don't start something you can't begin to finish, little boy.

That hot mess of a reply you just left sounds like the rest of your posts. Nonsense. Would you like ME to explain exactly what YOU meant to say?

Sorry but..you are posting out of context and probably just bitter because you got called out. I've been reading your weak attempts to keep up on a subject far beyond your comprehension. Doesn't look like Wikipedia's working out too good for you...

Most economists believe the economy will start to turn around by late 2009. Will ups offer us more when it does? Yeah right. More power to 705. Get your cola, better raise, better language, etc. Ups has want ads on the cta buses in chicago seeking part timers and full timers. They can not get people to stay on. Ups is only going to get bigger in the future. Get what you deserve chicago. Get what the national should have got for the rest of us

Did 705 honor the national strike in 1994 over the 150 lb weights?
Did 705 honor the national strike in 1997?
From reading your posts you are not even a teamster now are you? Why Did you vote against the teamsters? because it would cost you jobs, right? But yet you feel free to throw jabs at a local that has its members best interest at hand. If you read 705 proposals from the company you can see that it would cost them jobs. Your not happy with a local that will give you a bad contract and your not happy with a local that wants a fair contract.

Let me ask all of you how many sick days do you get? 705 gets none.
Do you get paid your birthday? 705 does not
How many optional days? 705 gets 2
Now maybe some of you dont get this too, but some areas do. How can this happen if everyones under the same national?

my comment was related to the poster who could not figure out that 705 teamsters does not equal all of UPS Teamsters employees.

to answer your question about "how is this possible if everyones under the same national?" well they have local supplements for a reason, but the national guarantees that everyone is under roughly the same terms.

I realize that the members of 705 have stated many times that the proposals put forth to them by UPS are less than what is offered in the NMA. My question to 705 is this: How many times have you proposed that 705 be brought under the NMA?

Now I realize that you are seperate from the NMA, and always have been and blah blah blah. But if you haven't made that proposal to them at this point, give me a reason (a good one please...) as to why.

I don’t know about you, but for me ignorance is not bliss, I would rather be informed about something that will affect me. Props to 705 for electing leadership that keeps them informed.

Aint that the truth. Our local elected to change bylaws that kept us in the dark.

you will be informed when they have a final package until then all you're doing is getting the members worked up unnecessarily.
