Fans have speculated about potential meanings behind the iconic films and Lilly confirmed the theory to Netflix.
"I'm glad that it has gotten out," she said.

But the director says the films have always been "meaningful" for trans people.

Poor Ricky, doesn't believe in an afterlife but the best his socialist friends could come up with in this life was the Soviet Union. Must be tough to know there's no heaven on Earth. But then his idea of heaven is walking 5 blocks to the nearest bus stop, being sandwiched with strangers, dropped off 3 blocks from his destination, but luckily not raining today. Sheer heaven.
